Light Meters & Photometers
Sulfate is widely present within natural waters in different concentrations. Sulfate concentration is to be kept within a strict range for drinking water, especially since this value can be high near mine drainage points. Sulfate is also rigorously tested in the production of beverages such as beer, due to its significant effect upon odor and taste. It measures the sulfate content in water samples in the 0 to 150 micrograms per liter (ppm) range. Sulfate is precipitated with barium chloride crystals. The instrument uses an exclusive positive-locking system to ensure that the cuvette is in the same place every time it is placed into the measurement cell. The cuvette has an important role because it is an optical element and thus requires particular attention. It is important that both, the measurement and the calibration (zeroing) cuvettes, are optically identical to provide the same measuring conditions. 0 to 150 micrograms per liter range. 1 micrograms per liter resolution. +/-1 micrograms per liter +/-5 percent of reading accuracy. light emitting diode light source light source. Silicon photocell with narrow band interference filter at 466 nm light detector. adaptation of the turbidimetric method. 0 to 50 degree C (32 to 122 degree F); maximum 95 percent RH non-condensing environment. 9V battery power supply. after ten minutes of non-use in measurement mode; after one hour of non-use in calibration mode; with last reading reminder auto-shut off. 360 g (12.7 oz) weight.
