Light Meters & Photometers

The Hanna Instruments 93707-01 nitrite, low range, reagent, for use with the HI 96707 Nitrite, Low Range, portable photometer, contains the proper dosage for 100 tests that measure the nitrite content using the diazotization method in water samples in the 0.000 to 0.35 mg/L range. HI 93707-01 contains 100 odorless, white powder nitrite reagent packets, for 100 tests.

A reaction between the reagent and nitrite in a sample causes a distinct pink color to appear, which is measured by the photometer. The meter uses an adaptation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) diazotization method 354.1.

Reagents are used in photometers to measure the light intensity of solutions or surfaces. The reagent is mixed with the sample and placed in the photometer, which then produces a reading. Reagents are commonly used in the water quality, agricultural, and horticultural industries to measure the amount of minerals and chemicals in water samples.

Hanna Instruments manufactures analytical instrumentation and supplies, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. The company, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 standards.
